DESCRIPTION:
The Check Yourself Before You Spec Yourself course is designed to teach specifiers how to look at testing data so they can do their own due diligence before selecting products. This will help prevent jobsite failures or safety issues pre and post install. Test results tell us everything we need to know about a product’s performance.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
With all the unique products on the market today, as well as updates to standards, it is important to read manufacturer's testing, guidelines and recommendations/disclaimers, and have a general understanding of installation and application challenges before specifying. At the end of the course attendees will be able to: 1) Understand key ASTM tests that will help identify a product's perfromance and suitability for a particular application (MOHS, Abrasion,DCOF,Breaking Strength, Water Absorption) 2) Identify and overcome industry myths pertaining to VOC's, Fire Ratings, DCOF, Abrasion and Grout Joint Width 3) Identify usage criteria for a product 4) Compare and contrast Codes versus Standards and learn what is optional and what is required before specifying.
